Aswan High Dam is the first attempt of the Egyptians to get into the age of the industrial renaissance. The history of the High Dam construction dated back to the ruling period of President Gamal Abd El Nasser in the 60s. However, there were many ancient steps to build the dam during the reign of Fatimid Caliph Al-Hakim Bi Amar Allah in the 9th century.

The Unfinished Obelisk

It's just like a sleeping massive structure of granite and it's a 3,500-year-old building which is dedicated to the reign of Queen Hatshepsut during the 18th dynasty, and the monument was abandoned when some cracks appeared in the rocks. Some historians assured that in case if the obelisk were finished, it would have been measured 42 meters in length and 1,200 tons in weight.

Philae Temple

Philae temple is one of the most beautiful Nile side temples which was started by Ptolemy II and was finished by the Romans. Philae temple is dedicated to the goddess Isis of the Ptolemaic era that was built between 380-362 BC. She is a very prominent figure who was believed that she was the protector of the kings and the giver of life because she resurrected Osiris and gave birth to Horus.

The site contains two neighboring temples cut out of the sandstone cliffs. However, the major temple is dedicated to the pharaoh himself whose entrance consists of four colossal statues sitting in pairs (each statue measuring 20 meters high). The site of the temple enables the sun rays to reach the four seated statues of Amun Ra, Ptah, Re Horakhty, and Ramses II twice a year.
